The Schoeman Family's Story & Heritage
Since 2000, GP and Hesmé, with their sons, are the proud owners of Schoemanshof.
"We love being able to live our dream in nature everyday of our lives"
What we Believe
At the historic farm, previously known as Nooitgedacht, on the banks of the Vaal River, 25km from Potchefstroom in the well known Vredefort Dome World Heritage area, you can wake up every morning with the call of a Fish Eagle and really get peace of mind away from the city rush to enjoy the beautiful African nature.
GP and Hesmé Schoeman are the proud owners of this beautiful farm. Some of the original buildings survived the test of time and the Boer war of 1899 to 1902, when nearly every building in the old Transvaal and Free state were burned down. Evidence of the war can still be seen in the cellar where shrapnel damaged the ceiling and roof. The foundations of the old house that was burned down by the British troops lay bare beside the waenhuis. The old "waenhuis" is one of the oldest buildings, if not the oldest, in the region and dates from the early pioneer time. We also have part of the original "klipkraal", "landmuur" and cemetery.
The farm is well known for its superb yellow fish waters. To catch this indigenous fish on a fly, is an experience every enthusiast must enjoy.
We have a hiking route and ideal routes for jogging. Bring your mountain bikes and ride the roads through the beautiful Vredefort Dome.
Game viewing, river rafting as well as a lot of other activities are available close by.
